Operations Department

Job Purpose

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Caretaker to maintain the cleanliness, order, and security of our clinical facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including general neatness, minor repairs, and ordinary tasks for events.

Job Responsibilities

Cleaning and Maintenance:

  • Filling of Oxygen tanks (stand-by in case of emergency)
  • Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the building’s exterior, including sidewalks, pathways, and parking areas in conjunction with the Operations department work orders.
  • Conduct minor repairs and maintenance tasks, such as plumbing issues and appliance malfunctions (within scope of expertise).
  • Perform basic landscaping duties, such as watering plants, mowing lawns, and trimming hedges.
  • Assist with the upkeep of building amenities, such as swimming pools and recreational areas.

Security and Safety:

    • Conduct regular security walks of the property to ensure the safety and well-being of residents/occupants.
    • Monitor access to the property and report any suspicious activity.
    • Assist with the management of parking areas and ensure compliance with parking regulations.
    • Respond promptly to emergencies and assist occupants as needed.

Resident/Occupant Relations:

  • Provide excellent customer service to all occupants.
  • Address resident/occupant concerns and requests promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain positive and professional relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Assist residents/occupants with inquiries and provide information as needed.

Administrative Duties:

    • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
    • Daily feedback on building conditions and any identified issues.
    • Assist with the coordination of contractor services when necessary.
    • Comply with all relevant health and safety regulations.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least Ten years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to work in an environment with children.
  • Computer literacy an advantage.
  • Valid South African ID document.
  • Driver’s licence (not a prerequisite but would be advantageous)

Required qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Caretaker or in a similar role.
  • Strong cleaning and maintenance skills.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and/or carpentry.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong work ethic and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Matric would be an added advantage.
